"How Do I Maintain My Certification?"
To maintain your certification status as a Certified Healthcare Compliance Consultant or Certified Healthcare Compliance Officer, Healthcare Compliance Resources requires completion of twenty-four continuing education units (CEUs) annually. To maintain dual certification, thirty CEUs per year are required.
How to obtain CEUs:
- Taking the CHCC/CHCO course and exam fulfills the current year requirement. Any person who becomes certified in the months of November and December will be exempt from CEU requirements until the following January (13-14 months).
- Healthcare Compliance Resources will accept pre-approved compliance-related CEUs from the following approved organizations: HCR, AAPC,
SNCHBC, PVN, AHIMA, PAHCOM, MGMA, ACHE, ANA, and AMA.
- Seminar/Workshop attendance (not pre-approved): Two hours of instruction equals one CEU.
- OSHA and CLIA Compliance — current regulations and practice assessments.
- Name of seminar or workshop with copies of the agenda and course objectives.
- Name and credentials of speaker or sponsoring organization as applicable.
- Number of hours spent in actual compliance instruction. Do not include time for registration, meals, or breaks.
- Teaching/Presenting: One hour of teaching/presenting equals one CEU — maximum of eight CEUs per year.
Submitting CEUs:
All CEUs obtained throughout the calendar year must be submitted to HCR by January 31st.
